The future of the former Holy Family Orphanage

MARQUETTE — The Holy Family Orphanage is remembered kindly by some in the community, and to others as blight. But Tuesday evening the Grandview Marquette development team helped show the community the potential of the old building into the future.

Several community members made their way to Lost Creek Community Center Tuesday night to learn about the 15.3 million dollar project to be done at the former Holy Family Orphanage. Although it looks like little has been done, the team has been working hard to turn the building into affordable housing.

“We’re working on all of the financing and so on that needs to happen in order to make the deal work,” said Rick Ballard, a consultant on the development team from Home Renewal System. “This was a chance to update the community on the work we’ve been doing when it looks like nothing has been happening.”…
