The Gateway, Fremont Senior Apartments Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening

What: Construction is complete on the redevelopment of the Historic Fremont High School as “The Gateway, Fremont Senior Apartments.”
The Gateway will provide 38 mixed-income rental units in the heart of downtown Fremont. The development combines historic redevelopment with the latest in high-tech energy-efficiency retrofits to assure long-term affordability for residents.

The project has been developed by Home Renewal Systems (HRS) of Farmington Hills, in cooperation with the City of Fremont and Fremont Public Schools. Financing has been provided by Lake Michigan Financial Corporation and Bank of Holland, which has financed the construction and operation of the project through the purchase of affordable housing and historic tax credits issued by the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA). The $13 million project is expected to open to residents on May 15, 2015.

The May 12 event will feature remarks by Kevin Elsenheimer, newly-appointed Executive Director of MSHDA, as well as other public officials and project financing and construction partners.
